THE IMPORTANCE OF GIVING
Many people never choose to give, but by some reasoning, expect God to give them their heart's desire. Jesus spoke to the rules for giving in Matthew 6:1-4, and the reward for generosity in Luke 6:38. Giving, of some kind, is featured throughout the Bible, beginning at Creation, when God formed this planet to give to the human inhabitants everything conducive to, not only sustaining life, but making it wonderfully enjoyable. But, sin entered because of disobedience. Next the first murder occurred - when one man refused to give The Lord an honorable sacrifice and the jealousy he felt turned into rage when his brother gave The Lord his best. Humanity has been at war with giving since that day. Many Christians struggle to even attempt to be God-like when it comes to His Principles of giving. We, the leadership of GFCC, believe that giving is an opportunity to imitate the Heart and Character of The Living God.
Please, before you jump to any conclusions, neither The Church nor the pastor of this church, look to personally benefit from your gift. But we encourage you to look around your community and see the need. Life happens quickly and harshly at times. No one invites sickness, hunger or homelessness into their lives. Whether it's cancer, Covid-19, addiction, abuse, loss of a job or loss of a loved one, nobody planned for any of that. Let's stop sermonizing how they got there and pray and be thankful that it's not us or our family. God gave His Son and His Son gave His Life.
Please pray and let God lead you in being a blessing. When you give without a motive of receiving, you're creating more space for God to move in your life.
2nd Cor. 8:12-15 says, "For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, as it is written: “The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little."
May all God's children be blessed!
